The renovation of the Rijksmuseum, the Dutch national museum of art and history in Amsterdam, took ten years: 2003 until 2013. Among the highlights of the collection are many pieces from the Dutch Golden Age, the 17the Century – a period when immigration rates in the Netherlands were comparable to those of recent times. Bouwwerk contains a series of portraits of the people who rebuilt the museum, many of them immigrants too. The book also includes some interior photos and now perished “modern art works” by these workers: sketches and notes on the walls
